Kenny Barron is a legend of jazz history, an American musician, composer, arranger, and “the most lyric pianist of our time.” It’s impossible to list the number of great jazzmen with whom he has collaborated. Back in the 1960s, Dizzy Gillespie hired him without even hearing him play a note. After five years of work with Gillespie, Barron played with Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Milt Jackson, and Buddy Rich. In the early 1970s, the pianist worked with Yusef Lateef and Ron Carter. In the 1980s, he collaborated with the great saxophonist Stan Getz, and in the same year, became a co-founder of the quartet Sphere that played music by the great Thelonious Monk.

In 1974, Kenny Barron released his first album, and since then, he has released more than 40 records. He received the Living Legacy Award from Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation and his name was included into the American Jazz Hall of Fame. He also won the MAC Lifetime Achievement Award, NEA Jazz Master. Kenny Barron is a six-time winner of the Best Pianist Award of the Jazz Journalists Association.
