Reason Frankie sounds so smooth is that this was before he had an "op" to remove nodes on his vocal chords in c1952.

Peter Lamprakos says:

I grew up with Sinatra's singing and I remember his years with Tommy Dorsey and this song The One I Love….I even saw Sinatra at the then Paramount Theater. back in the day……he sang that with the singing group, Modernaires (not sure of the name )….he was and is the standard that all today's male vocalists are measured by(of the musical standards, I mean)….and in fact, I learned to sing many of the songs from the Sinatra songbooks by singing along with Sinatra records on the car radio, TV shows , old 78's and CD'a…………………..Peter Lamprakos,Edison,N.J.
