Paul Smith frequently plays piano for Steve Allen (both on stage and on records). A brilliant technician, Smith tries his best on this out-of-print LP to uplift a dozen obscure Allen compositions, but unfortunately, none of the songs have caught on or are particularly memorable. This is overall a lesser effort despite Smith’s swinging style (Scott Yanow/AllMusic).
