Carmen McRae‘s charming version of Blossom Dearie’s “Hey John” is enough of a reason to search for this album by itself. Accompanied by pianist Dick Shreve, Larry Bunker on vibes, guitarist Joe Pass, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Frank Severino, along with some unidentified players, McRae is also in excellent form on “I Fall In Love Too Easily,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” “Straighten Up and Fly Right” and “All the Things You Are.” Not all of the selections are of that quality, but overall, this is definitely a worthwhile acquisition for fans of the singer (AllMusic Review by Scott Yanow, https://goo.gl/CTrNei).
