At Yoshi’s is a live album by saxophonist George Coleman recorded in 1989 at Yoshi’s in Oakland, California and released on the Theresa label. It was later issued on CD by the Evidence label.
Critical Reception:
The AllMusic review by Michael G. Nastos awarded the album 4½ stars and stated:”The whole CD from top to bottom has Coleman and his band inspired to the hilt and playing their best, and At Yoshi’s is a highly recommended effort that deserves a space on each and every jazz lover’s shelf.”
Stuart Nicholson at JazzWise gave the album 4 stars and wrote:
“On each song, the listener is taken on a journey through well thought-out, structured performances where you dare not miss a note played.
Add to that his mastery of the saxophone and you have a double LP set that is a benchmark of what the real art of jazz improvisation is all about; remember, “there isn’t a player who knows his instrument better, or imparts so much knowledge in every marathon solo.”
