Sonia Rosa – Sensitive Sound of Sonia Rosa

Lovely little bossa nova tracks from singer Sonia Roza – a vocalist who’s so sensitive, her vocals almost take second stage to the jazzy backings in the set! And the backings are especially nice – given that they’re served up by the quartet of Sadao Watanabe – which features some great flute and guitar on most of the tracks! Some tunes have just a bit of light added strings, but never too much — and although Sonia often sings in English, she does so with an accented style that’s completely charming – a fair bit like Claudine Longet at her early A&M best. Titles include “The Look Of Love”, “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again”, “Secret Love”, “Tristeza”, “The Girl From Ipanema”, “Desafinado”, and “Meditation” – all done in a really great dreamy mode!” (Dusty Groove).
